Detailed itinerary

1

Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine is located in Aso, Kumamoto Prefecture. As you climb the worship path lined with nearly 100 lanterns, you seem to enter another world. It is also famous for being the setting of famous comic books.

Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine is primarily dedicated to the gods Izanagi-no-Mikoto, Izanami-no-Mikoto and Ishigami Daishogun. The famous Chuanduyan is said to be a ten-foot hole that was kicked by the demon Hachiboshi to escape from the pursuit of the Aso Great God. Nowadays, it has become a popular attraction where worshippers can absorb the energy of nature.

Chuanduyan

Above the shrine hall, there is a large wind cave (Chuanduyan) said to have been kicked by the demon Hachiboshi, a follower of Kenzanryu-no-Mikoto. The length and width are over 10 meters. The massive rock is penetrated by a large wind cave. Therefore, "Chuanduyan" is a symbol that even the most difficult goals can be achieved and is said to guarantee success in exams.

2

Amanoiwato Shrine, known for wishing by piling stones on the Tenno River Plain, is located in Takachiho Town, Nishiusuki District, Miyazaki Prefecture.

Nishihongu is the cave where Amaterasu Omikami hid and is revered as the divine body.

Legend has it that there is a large cave nearby. Amaterasu Omikami hid in Amano Iwato and the world was plunged into darkness.

The other gods, who were concerned, allowed Ame-no-Uzume to dance outside the cave, causing them to laugh. The lively atmosphere made Amaterasu curious about the appearance of the new deity. She peered out through the open rock crack. At that time, the gods carried out the divine mirror. Amaterasu Omikami saw her reflection and was overjoyed immediately. She emerged from Amano Iwato and the earth regained its brightness.

Amanoyasukawara

It is said that making a wish by piling stones here can fulfill the wish, so many people have built wishing stone towers.
