About this experience

The city of Batalha owes its origin to its monastery, which was built as a way of thanking the Virgin Mary for the victory of the Portuguese in the Battle of Aljubarrota in 1385.
Surrounded by hills, Alcobaça dates back to Roman times. Its development was around the Monastery of Alcobaça, where D. Pedro and D. Inês de Castro are buried, who lived a beautiful love story with a tragic end.
