Spend the day visiting breathtaking landscapes and Portugal's unique monuments on this private and customizable royal tour. After being picked up from your accommodation, the tour will begin with a drive towards Queluz National Palace
See one of the last representatives of Rococo buildings in Europe, a summer retreat for Dom Pedro of Braganza, king consort to Queen Maria I. It was somewhat a safe place for the Queen as she has been going mad since her husband died in 1786.
After Ajuda Palace was destroyed by fire in 1794, Queluz Palace became the official royal residence of he Portuguese prince regent John VI to 1807. This magnificent palace was designed by Portuguese architect Mateus Vicente de Oliveira. It is often called the Portuguese Versailles.
Then we move to the epoque of Baroque style. In this palace you will see one of the most beautiful libraries in the world. This palace was built because King John V promised to build a palace for his wife if she gives him an offspring.
It was mostly used as a secondary residence due to its location next to the royal hunting preservers. The building is considered to be one of the largest royal palaces in the world and was designed by the German architect João Frederico Ludovice
The third palace you are to visit is a neoclassical building. It survived several natural disasters such as tsunami and earthquake. The palace was designed by architect Manuel Caetano de Sousa, who planned a late Baroque-Rococo building, but then José da Costa e Silva and Francisco Xavier Fabri decided it to be a neoclassical one. It was the official royal residence to King Luis I and his wife, Maria Pia of Savoy
By the end of the tour you will be returned to Lisbon and dropped-off at your hotel.
