In 1931 the Regional Wine Cellar of Colares was founded, which currently gathers more than 50% of the region's production and more than 90% of the producers. For more than 80 years, this Cooperative has been a social function of great importance in the agricultural activity of the Region. It produces wines of the Denomination of Controlled Origin of Colares, Regional Extremadura and Table Wine, adapted to any occasion.

The current building is original, imposing when viewed from the outside and dazzling by its interior dimension. In the main building there is a large set of tons of enormous dimensions in which the wines produced by the winery age.

Stop 4

The westernmost point of Europe "where the earth ends and the sea begins".

It is the most western point of the European continent, located at the extreme end of the Serra de Sintra, “the point where the land ends and the sea begins”, as Luís de Camões wrote (in Os Lusíadas, Canto III). Roca is also called “Focinho da Roca” by people connected to things of the sea, and more poetically by “Promontório da Lua”.

When we approach the place, coming from the village of Azóia, we start by sighting the Lighthouse, at 165 meters of altitude and dating from 1772; then the gaze turns to the immensity of the Atlantic Ocean revealing one of the most emblematic places in Portugal. It is the open-hearted confrontation with the sea. You breathe hard, you feel the entire weight of the continent on your back, while your eyes are opened to the invitation of the ocean. It is in Cabo da Roca that the expression "stone raft" takes on all its meaning.
