Koruna means crown in Czech. Its a great representation of geometric Art Nouveau by the Viennese architect Pfeifer. The Czech Republic was still part of the Austrian Empire when this building was officially opened in 1914.

This is the most famous cultural house in the country. Its called Lucerna, meaning Lantern. It was designed by the grandfather of Vaclav Havel.

The Palac Adria is another example of the style known as national decorativism. When Le Corbusier was teaching in the Mozarteum across the road, he often would comment on the bad taste of Czech buildings, and the tendency to over-decorate them.
