The Kalasasaya, which means "standing stones" in Aymara, is one of the main temples of the Tiwanaku archaeological complex in Bolivia, built around 500 AD. Its main features include a rectangular structure with stone walls and sandstone columns, a sunken central courtyard, and alignment with the cardinal points, serving as an important ceremonial center and astronomical observatory.

5

The Semi-Subterranean Temple is located in the eastern sector of the Kalasasaya Temple. The walls were made of finely finished red sandstone ashlars alternating with large vertical pillars. Some of the pillars still display anthropomorphic details in low relief (such as a foot). 175 anthropomorphic club heads carved from sandstone, ignimbrite, and limestone are embedded in its walls and along the perimeter. This is the site of origin of the Bennett or Pachamama Monolith and the Khontiki.
