Learn all about Shinjuku from early Japan to present day at a local museum. Next visit one of Shinjuku’s beautiful local shrines hidden away from the fast paced centre of the city. This off the beaten path gem is a must see and is hard to spot unless you know where to look! Finally we will be at the very centre of this entertainment district where you will enjoy a guided tour and your lunch break to explore and eat at your leisure.
We will then take a short train journey to nearby Kagurazaka, one of Tokyo’s traditional yet trendy neighbourhoods with nods to the past steeped in history and culture. You will head to a beautiful Japanese garden and tea house to enjoy a traditional tea and Japanese sweet experience before having a guided tour of the area and some free time to shop and explore.
Meet your tour guide at Yotsuya Sanchome train station outside of the ticket gates at the yellow information stand in front of the ticket gates
Guided tour around Shinjuku Historical Museum and some time for you to explore if you wish
You will then walk for 30 minutes from Shinjuku Historical Museum to our next destination, a hidden shrine within the heart of Shinjuku. Your guide will tell you about the Shrine and its history. You will then have time to take photos and explore
It is now lunch time! You will walk to Golden Gai and Kabukicho, Shinjuku's lively entertainment centre. You will have a guided tour of the area. You can then enjoy exploring, shopping and trying some local food at your leisure on your lunch break.
You will now take a short train journey to Iidabashi station in Kagurazaka from Shinjuku-Sanchome station. Your first stop will be a traditional Japanese garden and tea house where you will enjoy a guided tour of the gardens and a matcha and wagashi experience.
Finally, you will have a guided tour walking the streets and historic alleys of Kagurazaka. You will visit a shrine and temple, a beautiful traditional Japanese sweet shop, and walk through historic yokocho or alleyways. You will have some free time before meeting back up to conclude the tour.
The tour will conclude at Iidabashi station.
Meet your tour guide at Yotsuya-Sanchome station. When arriving at Yotsuya-Sanchome station, you will need to come out of the ticket gate for EXIT 4 and the meeting point is directly in front of you by the big information board. Be sure to look for the guide wearing a SNOW MONKEY RESORTS tour tag.
