Detailed itinerary

1

We will walk through this square in the Carmelitas neighborhood, also known as Plaza de los Leones because of the fountain we will find there. In this square there are several important buildings, such as the Carmo and dos Carmelitas churches or the University of Porto.

2
Stop 2

Church built between 1756 and 1762 by José de Figueiredo Seixas. Rococo style and granite façade, we will observe its enormous tiles that cover its side.

3

We will visit this temple next to the Igreja do Carmo, which is why both are known as the Twin Churches. It dates back to the 17th century and its style is quite different from its "sister church", although it is also characterized by its striking blue tiles.

4

Considered the most beautiful bookstore in Europe, this building is neo-Gothic in style and inside we can find exquisite decoration, as well as books and more books. It is even said that it inspired JK Rowling when writing Harry Potter,

5
Stop 5

We are in front of the tallest tower in Portugal, the work of Nicolau Nasoni and built between 1735 and 1748. During the 200 steps up you can find 49 bells until you reach some of the best views of Porto.

6

We will stop at this viewpoint in the heart of the city, from which we can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Porto and its river.

7

Located in the old Porto prison, from the 18th century, we will visit this public museum where we can find a huge collection of images and cameras from the last century.

8
Stop 8

We will walk along this wide avenue, one of the most important in the city, and we will observe the different 19th century buildings that limit it on both sides. In this place we will also find the statue of Emperor Pedro IV.

9

Around twenty thousand tiles about the history of the country make this building one of the most important architectural works of Porto in the 20th century. A place that you should not miss even if you are not going to take any train.

10
Stop 10

In the highest area of Porto we can find its spectacular cathedral, dating from the 12th century and whose aesthetics make it reminiscent of a fortress.
