About this experience

You will visit one of the largest and oldest Salt Mines in Europe (700 years). It is also a world class monument, on the UNESCO’s World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. Each year it is visited by more than one million tourists.

You will experience almost 3 kilometers of meandering corridors, 800 steps of which 350 have to be descended to reach the depth of 135 meters underground. A professional guide will take you through this path, tell you about the secrets of the mine, and also show the amazing creations of nature and man.

Almost 3 kilometres of meandering corridors, 800 steps to climb of which 350 have to be descended to reach the depth of 135 meters underground. IMPORTANT: The tour does not include the lift that takes you down. • Wieliczka Salt Mine tour is not recommended for participants with walking disabilities (there are 800 steps on the way, including 380 right at the start) and for participants with claustrophobia. • The guided walk through Wieliczka Salt Mine consists of 20 monumental chambers joined by 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) of pathways. Visitors entering the Wieliczka Salt Mine descend a 380-step staircase to Level 1 (64 meters below ground level). This walk is not strenuous and can be undertaken in ordinary footwear, however we ask you consider the walk and 380-step staircase when booking this tour. The return to the surface will be by lift up the Danilowicz Shaft, from Level 3 (135 meters below ground level). • The temperature in the Wieliczka Salt Mine, though constant is low (14C or 57F). That is why even in summer, warm clothes should be worn. • The maximum size of backpacks or handbags brought into the main cannot exceed dimensions: 35x20x20 cm. • Children must be accompanied by an adult. • Not wheelchair accessible.

Please arrive at the meeting point: Kiss&Ride Parking, 2 Wielopole street, next to the Main Post Office /Poczta Glowna/ with approximately 15 minutes before the departure time.

RETURN DETAILS
Regardless of whether you have chosen the pick-up option or the main meeting point, you will be dropped off at the end of the tour to the center of Krakow at 2 Wielopole Street.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: make sure to wear comfortable shoes. The tour does not include the lift that takes you down. The journey begins with a descent down the Danilowicz Shaft to Level I of the mine. It is situated 64 m underground, thus the visitors have to walk down 380 stairs. The next levels lead the tour participants even deeper, i.e. 135 m underground. There are 800 steps along the whole route. After a short respite, visitors go up to the surface in a mining elevator. Please remember that it is quite cool in the mine (between 14° C and 16° C). Make sure to take warmer clothing even in summer. The maximum size of backpacks or handbags brought into the main cannot exceed dimensions: 35x20x20 cm. Not wheelchair accessible.
