After sunset, some of the ruins and temples in the ancient capital are beautifully illuminated by spotlights from the ground contrasting with the pitch-black sky.
The sun has set now and we cross the road to Wat Mahathat, one of the most famous temple complexes in Ayutthaya Historical Park.
This temple features a variety of architectural ruins including prangs, chedis, and mondops reflecting the architectural style of the Ayutthaya period. Additionally, the Buddha's head stuck in a bodhi tree is a must-visit sight to see in Wat Mahathat.
Get back on your back and prepare to visit the next destination Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon. A Buddhist temple located in the ancient city of Ayutthaya is famous for its great chedis, Reclining Buddha, monastic structure and so much more.
Moving we will then paddle our way to the famous Wat Phra Sri Sanphet. A royal monastery well known for its three chedis was built to enshrine the ashes of three Ayutthayan Kings. This temple also displays a unique Khmer-style tower that was used to house relics.
Next, we will go to the popular Wat Lokyasutthram. The temple is known for housing the largest reclining Buddha in the whole of Ayutthaya. Moreover, what is even more unique is the fact that the majestic reclining Buddha is housed in an open-air setting.
