Thingvellir is known for the Althing, the site of Iceland’s parliament from the 10th to the 18th century. Thingvellir National Park sits in a rift valley caused by the separation of the European and the North American tectonic plates. Here you have the thrill of standing with one foot in Europe and with the other one in America. One of the attractions in the national park will be also Silfra Fissure popular among scuba divers who come here from all over the world the dive in transparent glacial water.
