What you'll see

This 6-day package is an excellent introduction to to the wilderness of Canada. It starts off with a 3-day/3-night stay at the award winning Algonquin Eco-Lodge, and it ends with a 3-day/2-night wilderness canoe trip in Algonquin Park.

The first 3 days at Algonquin Eco-Lodge allows you to ease into the wilderness. The Lodge is a remote, off-grid lodge tucked deep into the forests of southern Algonquin Park. It is on the shores of a private lake and a cascading waterfall. Since vehicles are not allowed inside the Park it is a 2.5 km hike to get to the building, but your luggage can be collected for you. Even though the Lodge is off-grid, it creates its' own electricty from the waterfall. Thanks to this system the Eco-Lodge was awarded the Sustainable Tourism Award by the Ontario government.

While you are at the Eco-Lodge you can make use of the canoes, paddle boat, or row boat. The lake is good for swimming and there is a floating swim platform to laze around on. Hiking, fishing, and horseback riding are all options to do.

The last 3 days are spent on a canoe trip. You will meet your guide who will teach you how to paddle a canoe, put up a tent, and start a camp fire. During the day you will paddle remote lakes looking for moose or deer along the shoreline. In the evening you will collect firewood, and enjoy a hearty meal around the campfire. It is not uncommon to hear wolves howling in the distance at night.

All meals are included, as is all camping equipment. You only need a sleeping bag, flashlight, and rain gear (available to rent).
