You'll experience uninterrupted views over the Greater Brisbane region, Scenic Rim and Somerset countryside along with the Great Dividing Range as a backdrop. This unforgettable sunrise balloon flight is topped off with a delicious restaurant breakfast and a commemorative flight certificate.

This personal and professional boutique ballooning experience has been operating for over 20 + years in the Greater Brisbane region, with each flight undertaken by the owner, operator and Chief Pilot who has over 30+ years ballooning experience.

Floating Images Hot Air Balloon Flights provides a boutique hot air ballooning experience showcasing spectacular city & country views of the Greater Brisbane region encompassing Ipswich, Scenic Rim & Somerset countryside whilst aloft in a balloon wicker basket for an approx 1 hour flight time. How program takes 3 - 4 hours however.
Once up in the air you’ll see hot air ballooning is all about the views. With Floating Images Hot Air Balloon Flights you’ll have the opportunity to soak in where city life and country charm collide just a 30-minute drive west of Brisbane.
The geography and climate make this area ideal for hot air balloon flights. Ballooning is the best way to view South-East Queensland’s diverse natural landscape as you float over the rich agricultural land, valleys and mountain ranges of the Ipswich, Scenic Rim and Somerset regions. While in the air there is no doubt our Chief Pilot Graeme will point out a few gems to explore once back on land. Our office NOT meeting point

Floating Images meet all our passengers at the Ipswich VIC to commence the ballooning program including scenic views from above of the Greater Brisbane region including Ipswich, Scenic Rim & Somerset country regions.

Once we depart the Ipswich VIC we board our vehicle to the mornings launch site, a short drive within the region depending on the wind speed & direction for the morning.

Once at the launch site, passengers can assist in the inflation process of the balloon if they wish, or just stand back watch, take photos & enjoy.

Once inflated, all passengers embark the balloon basket and enjoy the flight in the well experienced pilots hands.

After the approx 1 hour flight time around the Greater Brisbane, Ipswich, Scenic Rim & Somerset regions we then land the balloon, pack it all up, hope back in our vehicle and head back to Ipswich, the Ipswich VIC and then to the restaurant for the after flight breakfast.

If you are joining the Floating Images after flight breakfast as part of your ballooning program inclusion, then passengers will enjoy the ambience, views and culinary skills at Fourth Child Restaurant for breakfast.

Children (6 - 12 years) must be accompanied by an adult. No infants allowed.
Disabled passengers are able to balloon, although limitations do apply due to the Civil Aviation and Safety Authority (CASA) regulations. CASA requires that all passengers are able to embark and disembark a balloon basket unassisted for safety reasons. No wheelchair facilities are available. Disabled persons participating in the balloon flight do so at their own risk and the company accepts no liability for any damage or injury caused. As the flight is for approximately 1 hour, passengers must be able to stand unaided for the duration of the flight. (ie: no additional aids such as seats, walkers, sticks or crutches are permitted in the basket). If in doubt, an able bodied person (friend or relative) must accompany the "slightly infirm" passenger.
Weight notification: For flight manifest purposes all passengers’ names and estimated weights (in kilograms). Please advise the booking office if any client is over 90 kilograms, or have any medical issues. As weight is an important factor in a hot air balloon; passengers weighing 115 Kg or over attracts a 50% surcharge. Due to safety factors passengers over 130kg cannot participate in hot air ballooning.
During any Government Health &/ or Covid restrictions, all passengers will be required to follow the FIHABF Health/ Covid 19 Policy & Safety Plan requirements, and comply with all Federal Government and Queensland Health requirements imposed at the time of your flight. Please familiarize yourself with any Government & Health authority mandates including the wearing of face masks and how it applies to you, prior to your flight. By booking tickets to attend this ballooning experience you accept these participation entry requirements.

Meeting point

We meet all passengers at the lpswich Visitor Information Centre, Ipswich - 30 mins from Brisbane CBD. Meeting/ Departure time is 45 minutes before sunrise - and is confirmed at the time of booking confirmation via email from the operator as well as the night prior to the flight.

Important notes

• Exact meeting/ departure time will be advised in final reservations details forwarded/ emailed to customers within 24 hours of your Viator/ online booking; and must be reconfirmed the night prior to the flight when passengers call Floating Images between 7.00 - 7.30 pm for final flight, time & weather confirmation.
• Brisbane's CBD Hotel pickup and drop-off - an added extra cost - are currently NOT available. Passengers must arrange own transport to meeting point in Ipswich.
• Comfortable layers of outdoor clothing to match the season, sunglasses, a hat or cap and sturdy shoes for the morning dew or long grass are recommended. No open foot wear or high heels are permitted. White clothing is not recommended.
• The final confirmation of your flight is subject to change due to the final passenger number and suitable weather conditions on the day of the flight.
• Please ensure you receive the suppliers flight confirmation details and supply all additional information requested for manifest purposes direct to supplier prior to your flight.
