Dinokeng Game Reserve is Gauteng's largest "Big Five" wildlife sanctuary, 1 hr, 40 minutes north of Johannesburg and 40 minutes from Pretoria.
The popular sunrise (5:30 am summer or 6 am winter) or sunset (4 pm summer or 3:30 pm winter) game drives are the best times to look for the Big 5.
Duration is typically 2 hrs & 30 minutes on the open-back 4x4 trucks driven by game rangers, who narrate facts about the animals while navigating the terrain.
Hippos, Elephants, Rhinos, Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Zebras, Kudus, Jackals, Impalas, Wildebeest & Crocodiles are among the popular sights to look forward to. Each truck seats a total of 10 adults, so the rangers will have more time to answer all your individual questions about the wildlife.
Bottled water & snacks are provided during a mini-break halfway through the tour.
