Start your tour at the Freddie Mercury statue located at a beautiful square on the shores of lake Geneva. Dedicated to the famous British singer Freddie Mercury, It was inaugurated in the presence of his parents in 1996. The statue is made of bronze and sculpted by Irena Sedlecká.
Walk by the Hotel Eden Palace Au Lac portraying Victorian style architecture. It is where the famous rock band called “Deep Purple” moved to safety after the Montreux Casino caught fire during their performance in 1971.
Our next stop will be the Montreux Casino which was rebuilt after being destroyed by a fire caused by a flare gun used by one of the fans that attended the show. From here, you can see panoramic views of the lake Geneva and Swiss alps.
Head towards the Old town and reach the Temple of Saint-Vincent, a 15th century church which is said to have been built on the ruins of an 11th century church. Here, you will see great views of mountains, Lake Geneva and beautiful houses making your climb worth it. Beautiful walking paths such as the Chauderon Gorges lead from the Old town.
As you continue, you will come across the Statue Les Amoureux - the bronze statue of lovers. You will also visit the Alley of Jazz musician sculptures where you will have a chance to admire works of art depicting the famous artists that performed in Montreux.
Finally, you will see the beautiful gardens of the Les Jardens des Palace where jazz music performances are held each year. Here, you will also find statues and fountains that add to its charm.
