Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

The Bibi-Heybat Mosque is a historical mosque in Baku, Azerbaijan. The existing structure, built in the 1990s, is a recreation of the mosque with the same name built in the 13th century which was completely destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1936. The Bibi-Heybat Mosque today is the spiritual center for the Muslims of the region and one of the major monuments of Islamic architecture in Azerbaijan.

2
Stop 2

A national historic landmark and a World Heritage Site, Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape preserves ancient stone relics, rock carvings, and mud volcanoes. Located on the Greater Caucasus mountain ridge, the reserve shelters more than 6,000 engraved images of prehistoric lifestyles, hunting, and animal and plant life, dating back between 5,000 and 40,000 years.

3

During this trip, you will get a great chance to see these amazing active volcanoes from a very close distance. Watch mud bubbling out of the earth at Mud Volcanoes, strange geological formations bursting warm liquid set against a backdrop of mountains in Gobustan National Park. Fizzy, snorting bubbles and an occasional sound of snoring make a mesmerizing spectacle.

4
Stop 4

The Temple of Eternal Fire - Ateshgah - is an authentic Azerbaijani exotic. It is well-known practically all over the world. This territory is known for such unique natural phenomenon as burning natural gas outlets (underground gas coming onto surface contacts oxygen and lights up). The temple in its present state was constructed in the 17th-18th centuries.

5
Stop 5

One of the most famous and popular tourist places of the "eternal flame” in Azerbaijan is the mountain of Yanar Dag. Actually, it is rather a hill than a mountain, with natural gas burning on its slope from ancient times.
