Detailed itinerary

1

Your wonderful adventure begins at Pointe des Régates Mahebourg. Stroll along the waterfront while chatting and learning about the rich history of this breathtakingly beautiful area. You will have the opportunity to stop at various local restaurants and street food stalls to savor Mauritian dishes, some are typical of Mahébourg.

First of all, we will set off at a local traditional bar to sip a fruity cocktail and Juice. This is far by best the great cocktail juice that we had at Mahebourg.

2

Afterward, you will meet sunita and taste one of the favorite street foods of the Mahebourgeois. To satisfy your appetite, you will visit the beautiful, colorful, and tasty market of Mahébourg.

You will have a wide variety of street food like dholl puri, roti, vegetable balls, samosas etc..

You'll continue this beautiful adventure by discovering the ruins of an old train station: a reminder of the golden age of the sugar industry.

3

Later, you'll visit the Mahebourg National Museum which will take you into a historical journey of the island dating back to the 18th century.

Afterward continue to Frederik Hendrik historical site bearing witness to the Dutch and French colonial settlements in Mauritius. The very first inhabitants of Mauritius, the Dutch, settled here to colonize the island.

Next stop: a unique cozy family restaurant! An elegant, fine-lunching Mauritian cuisine restaurant, with an emphasis on the authenticity of its recipes. Ingredients are sourced from local farmers, fishermen, and food producers.

They create beautiful, delicious dishes inspired from the olden days, when natural and fresh ingredients were not an option; They were the norm. Beyond being a culinary collision of ingredients, their dishes are a narration of our history, our culture and our passion for good food.

At the end of the visit, you will have tasted the authentic Mahebourg and will have plenty of souvenirs to treasure.

Why Mahebourg?

Mahebourg is one of the oldest villages on the island, going back to the early Dutch and French periods. In fact, the coastal village was named after an important historical figure in Mauritius. Its lagoon is also the site of the historic naval battle between the British and the French.

Mahébourg has preserved much of its authenticity and beauty with its old traditional houses still standing, its welcoming streets filled with sympathetic faces and its local restaurants serving food typical and unique to this region.
