From: Ella - YALA Safari - Drop off: Arugam Bay / Arugambay

From one of the most beautiful parts of the beaches in Southern Sri Lanka, you are going to be picked up by our drivers from the hotels in and around the Hiriketiya/ Tangalle/ Dikwella/ Rekawa/ Nilwella/ Mawella area. Pick up vehicle will be an air-conditioned car or mini van with luggage space. Pick up times will be (Morning Safari - 3.30 a.m. / Afternoon Safari - if you want to have lunch before the safari select 12.00 p.m. / else 12.30 p.m.). After picking you up we will start the journey with the aim of reaching to Tissamaharama, and to have ample time to reach the YALA main entrance on time.

You will get down from the transfer vehicle at Ajith Safari Jeep Tours office in Debarawewa, Tissamaharama and pay for the meals (if requested). Then get on to the safari vehicle. We use only the rugged Toyota Hilux 4x4 vehicle for the safari, specially equipped to navigate the YALA National Park's diverse off-road conditions easily. Safari vehicles consist of 6 individual seats, which gives a 270 degree view to the guest.

Game Drive 1: Starting from 6.00 a.m. to around 8.00 a.m.
This is the first highlight of the day.
Embarking on a thrilling wilderness adventure into Yala, the home to the world's most concentrated population of leopards!  

Sri Lankan leopard is a leopard subspecies native to Sri Lanka. YALA boasts approximately a hundred individual leopards.
 
This Game Drive covers the first two hours of the day (6 a.m. to 8 a.m.) In the vernacular of wildlife enthusiasts, this is called "Golden Hours" which gives you the highest chance of spotting the elusive Sri Lankan leopards and many other animals. You will be inside YALA at the time, observing the wild with the guidance of our experienced driver cum guide.

There is also a possibility to encounter Sloth Bear, Elephants, Crocodiles, Monkeys, Spotted Dears, Mongoose, Birds and a plethora of other species.

Our highest priority is your comfort and safety, so we use only the rugged Toyota Hilux 4X4 vehicles for the Game Drives.

At the end of the first game drive, you will be given a break to refresh yourself at the Patanangala beach inside the YALA National Park facing the Indian Ocean.

You can enjoy your breakfast in the break. Breakfast is not included in this tour but you can request it from us with an additional charge of 8 USD per person.

After the break, you start the 2nd game drive of the day. Duration 1 hour.

Your knowledgeable driver cum guide will regale you with insights into the behaviors and habitats of YALA's diverse wildlife, enriching your safari experience. After completing the 2nd game drive, you will come out of the YALA National Park and travel to Tissamaharama by the safari vehicle.
You will get down from the safari vehicle and get into the transfer vehicle.

3 hours - Transfer from Tissamaharama to Arugam Bay
The road to Arugambay runs near the boarder of Lahugala Kitulana National park. When you are passing Lahugala area, most of the time you will be able to witness elephants by the side of the road.

This is going to be place where we drop you off.

return to your hotel in the Arugam Bay beach area, as a person filled with memories of a lifetime and has a newfound appreciation for the wonders of one of the best spots in Sri Lanka's majestic wilderness.
