About this experience

This Meteora private tour from Athens to UNESCO Holy Monasteries of the rocky mountains of Meteora area is a memorable tour!
The breath-taking Meteora rocks were formed 60 million years ago. Today is part of the Natura 2000 network.
There are six monasteries on Meteora: Great Meteoron, Varlaam, Roussanou, Agios Stefanos, Holy Trinity and St. Nicholas. You will visit 2 or 3 of the monasteries, depending on the day and time we are visiting.
The monasteries date back from the 14th c and are unique in the world because of the amazing treasure of Byzantine and Christian items you can witness. Items such as the classic attire of the monks, elegant paintings and etched glass.
In 1981 Jame’s Bond film ‘For Your Eyes Only’ was partially filmed in the Monastery of Holy Trinity.

Next stop a visit to the Thermopylae Museum where King Leonidas and his 300 battled the Persians.
Our final stop is at Kammena Vourla seaside village where we will offer you, an afternoon coffee or tea by the sea.
