Detailed itinerary

1

We will be starting with a short walk in the Mavrovo National Park around the Mavrovo Lake.

2

Driving through the canyon of the river Radika, we make the next stop at St. John the Baptist of Bigorski Monastery, which is widely renowned as the most spiritual monastery in Macedonia. This 19th-century structure, erected upon both the ruins of an 11th-century church and the slopes of Mountain Bistra, is home to a small silver coffin allegedly containing the remains of St John himself.

3

Next, we must see the nearby waterfalls of Duf, listen to the sounds of nature, and relax our senses.

4

We continue on to the village of Lazaropole, an old typical Macedonian mountain village on an altitude of 1,350 meters. We take a short coffee break before we start walking around the village, admiring the nature and very unique architecture.

5

We will also visit the close village of Gari, almost at the same altitude. The houses are made of natural materials that could be found in the surrounding, to be warm in winter, and refreshing in summer. We walk to the waterfalls of Gari River, take a walk in nature, and finishing the day back in Skopje.
