About this experience

This tour will take you to the city of Councils, Bitola, where you can admire the mosaics in Heraclea Lyncestis, and visit the Museum of Bitola with the room dedicated to the Father of Modern Turkey, Kemal Mustafa Atatürk. We will also visit the town with the highest altitude in the country, Krusevo, and visit its most interesting sites.
Our driver/guide will pick you up from your hotel or any other preferred location in Skopje. We will drive to Bitola and visit the Heraclea Lyncestis Archaeological site. We can also visit the National Museum of Bitola and the Memorial Room dedicated to Kemal Mustafa Ataturk, the father of modern Turkey, who finished military school in this very building. We can have lunch or a coffee break in some of the restaurants and cafes in Shirok Sokak.
We will continue to Krusevo, the town with the highest altitude in the country. Here we can visit the grave of Tose Proeski, the Makedonium, and Meckin Kamen and enjoy in the beautiful mountainous terrain.

Detailed itinerary

Heraclea Lyncestis is a city founded by Philip II of Macedon. The city lasted through the Roman time, until today. Today we can admire the preserved mosaics from the 5th century.

Here, besides the other historical items, we will be able to visit the Memorial room dedicated to Kemal Mustafa Ataturk, the father of modern Turkey.

We will also enjoy a coffee break and a relaxing walk in the most famous pedestrian street in Bitola, Shirok Sokak, where drinking coffee and sitting around, is a way of life.

The place where Macedonians fought a great battle against the Ottomans and lost.

We will continue our way to Krusevo and start with the visit of the Memorial House of Tose Proeski, the great young singer that died tragically in a car accident.

The monument has the shape of a mace (bludgeon) and it is built in 1974, on the 30th anniversary of the Second Session of the Anti-fascist Assembly for the National Liberation of Macedonia and the 71st anniversary of the Ilinden uprising.
