Monet was fascinated by the façade of the Rouen cathedral that he painted about 30 times, in different types of weather, and at different hours of the day.
Monet settled in Giverny in 1883 with his children, his girlfriend Alice (who became later his second wife) and her children.
He spent the rest of his life here, until his death in 1926.
