What you'll see

Tour starts in the morning from your accommodation with professional guide and driver with comfortable car. The entire schedule of the tour is as follows:

On the border with Azerbaijan, the ancient monastery complex of Davit Gareja (or Gareji) is one of the most remarkable of Georgia’s historic sites. Its uniqueness is heightened by a lunar, semi-desert landscape that turns green and blooms with flowers in early summer. Davit Gareja comprises about 15 monasteries spread over a remote area (most long abandoned), but visitors usually just see two – Lavra (which has been restored since Soviet times and is now again inhabited by monks) and, on the hill above it, Udabno, which has beautiful frescoes.

There isn’t a better way to get the glimpse of the Georgian lifestyle than to actually choose to stay in Sighnaghi. Sighnaghi is a beautiful small town in the east of Georgia, hidden between green trees and beautiful landscapes. If you are looking for a picturesque and quiet place to enjoy your visit in the country, this is the place to consider. There is also something nostalgic about Sighnaghi, still, having numerous facades of old buildings and churches, parts of the city appearing like being frozen in a different era. Traditions are still very much alive here, since the city’s economy is mainly based on the making of wine and traditional Georgian carpets. Truly, it is an incredible and very interesting place to see.

Bodbe (Qiziki) Eparchy Episcopacy center is located in 2 km from Signaghi. Cathedral was constructed in IV century AD, on the tomb of St. Nino who introduced Christianity in Georgia. Bodbe monastery was renovated many times by the Georgian kings. From the end of XV century Bishop of Bodbe was the commander of Kakheti kingdom military and administrative entity. In 1991 the monastery life was restored in Bodbe. One of the biggest shrines of the monastery is miraculous icon of Mother Mary of Iveria. Large enough shops of icon painting and needle work are functioning under the monastery. Nuns are engaged in the activity of knowledge expansion, prepare new religious service books according to manuscripts.

We’ll visit the village of Badiauri to taste local bread that’s baked according to old traditions, and even bake some of our own! Badiauri is the best place for wine-degustation activities in Kakheti as well.

After the tour rebound to your accommodation is included.
