About this experience

Capture magical displays of Christmas lights in London.  Learn how to get the best shots possible of wonderful illuminations which decorate London during the festive period.  This is an exceptional photography learning experience. You are guided and expertly instructed by a professional Fine Art Photographer who has extensive teaching experience

We aim to capture as many Christmas lights as possible in Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street, Leicester Square, Soho and Regent Street.

This is an amazing visual experience of dazzling light displays at Christmas.

Stop 1

Capture the festive spirit of Christmas in Trafalgar Square. Learn about framing and composition with a professional Fine Art photographer who shares tips and advice exclusive to her Fine Art practice. Take your best photos ever. Capture the Norwegian Christmas tree sited in Trafalgar Square and learn how to make the tree lights sparke. Learn how to make the water in the fountains look like glass. Photograph the mermaids in the fountains and capture colourful reflections on the water. At all times your professional Fine Art photographer is in hand at times to help you get the best Christmas lights shots possible.

Stop 2

Walking at a leisurely pace we make our way to Leicester Square to photograph a wonderful mix of Christmas lights hanging from the trees. Learn about light and how to use colour effectively to capture the spirit of Christmas.

This is an exciting location as there are many Christmas lights on display on each curve of Piccadilly Circus. Learn about framing, composition, light and creative angles of view.

Important notes

Meeting Place.

Please meet outside the main entrance of Charing Cross Rail Station, The Strand, London, WC2N 5HF. Meet near the black cab taxi rank.

Your photographer is Lou Smith and she will be holding a sign with the lead traveller's name, so you will see her easily.

You should expect to take more photos than usual so do bring a spare battery if possible and extra memory cards. If you do not have a spare battery it is essential that you charge the battery fully the night before the workshop.

Please dress suitably for the weather conditions on the day and wear shoes which are comfortable for walking.

On arrival at the meeting point please check in with your tutor and let her know that you have arrived. She is easily recognised as she will be holding a sign with your name.
