About this experience

Discover Kyoto's impressive ramen scene on our Insider Kyoto Ramen Tour! Explore both classic and modern ramen and get a better understanding about the wonderful world of ramen with our expert guide.

You'll visit two ramen shops for two wildly different bowls of ramen. One bowl will represent classic Kyoto ramen and the other, more modern ramen. Each bowl is smaller than normal (about 1/2 the size of a full bowl). At the beginning of the tour, you'll sit down with the guide to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. Alongside this, you'll discuss Kyoto ramen origins and the ramen route on the tour - the shops you'll be visiting!

Detailed itinerary

1

This is where we start our tour - right where two of Kyoto's biggest streets meet: Shijo-dori and Karasuma-dori. There are a lot of shopping malls like this one as well as cafes and delicious ramen restaurants here to explore to your heart's content.

2

Along Shijo-dori we will sit down at one of its many coffee shops to brief you on our plan for the tour, the ramen we'll be eating and Kyoto's ramen history in general.

3
Stop 3

Together with the guide you will explore the area around Nishiki market where you can find surprisingly many high quality ramen shops. Although the market won't be a part of the tour, we will pass through there and give you some recommendations to come back to later (if you're not full yet!)
