Small Group tour to Caucasus Mountains of Georgia takes off every next Friday.

Medium grade trekking in Mtiuleti and Khevi regions of Kazbegi municipality includes visiting Truso, Dariali and Sno canyons, Gergeti and Juta villages and hike up to Chaukhi mountains. Jvari pass (2.395m), Sabertse pass (2900m) and Altihut – alpine basecamp (3014m) are the highest points on the way. Kazbegi mount pick (5054 m) can be observed in clear weather.

This is a carefree tour. All expenses and food are included.

Detailed itinerary

Stop 1 Pass by

9:00 AM departure from Tbilisi

Stop for sightseeing at Ananuri Fortress, on Georgian Military Road.

Enter into beautiful Truso Valley for a “warm up” trek, reaching the ruins of Zakagori castle near border area. Stop by Abano bubbling lake and several travertines spread throughout the valley.

After the hike – drive to Stepantsminda townlet, check in hotel and take a short hike to Gergeti Trinity Church (5 km roundtrip, 377 m elevation gain/drop).
Dinner and overnight at Kazbegi Guesthouse.

In the morning drive up to Gergeti campsite near the Trinity Church and take a hike in direction of Kazbegi mountain, reaching Sabertse Pass (3100 m.). In good weather the pass offers spectacular panoramic views or the area and nearby glacier. Continue walking a bit further down to have a lunch and a hot tea in Altihut – alpine basecamp at elevation of 3014 asl. After lunch, walk back to Stepantsminda.
Dinner and overnight at Kazbegi Guesthouse.

Early morning drive to Sno Canyon to highest mountain village in the area Juta (2250m). Take a hike to Juta lake at the base of Chaukhi Mountain, 10 km round trip 3-4 hours.
Late lunch and drive back to Tbilisi.
