Salt is the only edible stone existing in nature, which is why we offer you a visit to the Añana Salt Valley, a place of cultural interest with more than 6,500 years of history and which is in the process of becoming a World Heritage Site.

Restaurante El Portalón, It is one of the most prestigious restaurants in the capital of Alava, as well as one of the oldest. It is located in the historic centre of the city, in a building built between the 15th and 16th centuries, in which Renaissance, Gothic and Mudejar characteristics can be appreciated, and which at that time was used as an inn for merchants.

Few places take name and surname as Vitoria-Gasteiz. The walled medieval enclosure of the city was constructed at the end of the 11th century, a century before the foundation of the city for King Sancho IV of Navarre in 1881 under the name of New Victory. By then it was a walled town which represented a defensive outpost of the kingdom of Navarre. The name Vitoria is the village that was located on the hill. Vitoria has historically enjoyed a strategic position because it is on the shortest route between the Castilian plateau and northern Europe.
