El Monasterio de Sant Pere de Rodes se levanta en una de las cimas de la sierra de Rodes, una cadena en primera línea de mar al norte del Alt Empordà. Es uno de los numerosos testigos de la arquitectura románica catalana, pero quizás es uno de los más sofisticados arquitectónicamente. Desde el siglo XI al XIV fue el principal centro espiritual del condado de Empúries y su esplendor se muestra en las grandes dimensiones del conjunto monacal. Este está formado por la iglesia, el campanario, el claustro, las sacristías, las dependencias convencionales para vivir y el palacio del Abad.
En el exterior, la portalada, a cargo del Maestro de Cabestany, mostraba diferentes escenas de la vida de Cristo esculpidas en mármol blanco.
Desde el monasterio se puede disfrutar de una de las mejores vistas del Cap de Creus. Poco antes de llegar, se encuentran los restos del pueblo medieval de Santa Creu de Rodes, entre los que destaca la iglesia de Santa Helena de Rodes.
