About this experience

Get away from the busy life for a one full day and make your mind rest and stay calm for at least 8 hours. Sourrounded by a forest cover and mountains with small waterfalls, Rakkhiththakanda is one of the best archeological places for meditation. You will learn the meditation leasens from a budhist monk that can be practiced in your day to day life.

Detailed itinerary

07:00: You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the trekking starting point.

07:30: Arrive the starting point and start small hike to the temple through the mountains.

08:15: Arrive at the temple and speak to one of the Buddhist monks. Some monks will speak English and some speak only the local language. However the guide will give an English translation if you find a monk who does not speak English.

08:45: You will be taken to one of the meditation places in the jungle closer to the temple.

09:00: Monk will educate you about the meditation programme and teach the meditation techniques.

09:15: You will start meditation for 3 hours. You are not allowed to walk in the area as it can disturb others.

12:00: Enjoy a vegetarian lunch served by the Village family.

13:30: After lunch, you will start your second round of meditation for 2 hours.

15:30: Arrive back to the temple and speak to the monk and share your experience about the meditation.

16:30: You will be leaving the temple and arrive back to the main road.

17:15: You will be taken back to the hotel
