About this experience

Kim has been part of the travel industry for 25 years and enjoys meeting people, traveling to new places and discovering different cultures and cuisines. Kim learned to cook when she was 12 years old from her father. Her father had always wanted to be a chef, but went on to become a Captain in the merchant navy, so he passed on his interest and passion to Kim. She is a Goan native and lives with her family (husband and two children) in a small village in South Goa. Her family enjoys her cooking so much that they encouraged her to open her own fine foods and confectionery business five years ago, so that she could share her passion with others. Through her business Kim caters food for groups as small as 2 and as large as 200, customizing her meals to each customer's unique them. Get to meet a local family and try some authentic Goan-Portuguese fusion dishes made from locally sourced ingredients and family recipes.

Experience authentic Goan culture through a local village tour and home-cooked meal in Orlim, a charming rural village in South Goa. Your host, Kim, welcomes you with refreshing coconut water from her garden and shares stories about the Hindu Saraswat and Catholic Portuguese influences that shape Goan cuisine. Enjoy a short guided walk through the village to see a 450-year-old church, a handloom house making kunbi saris, and maybe even spot migratory birds. Back at Kim’s home, explore the many tropical fruits or spices as you relax in her garden or join her in the kitchen as she prepares a Goan-Portuguese feast using homegrown ingredients. Savor dishes like prawn curry, pork vindaloo, or fish cutlets, followed by desserts such as caramel custard or bebinca. This Goa cultural and culinary experience is ideal for families and children seeking fun, interactive activities that offer a true taste of local life and food.
