About this experience

Join Dotty in her kitchen in her beautiful home amidst lush paddy fields to cook a Javanese meal, using local ingredients and recipes handed down from her mother and grandmother. Dotty is especially gifted at teaching you about substitutes for traditional ingredients that can be hard to find at your grocery store back home. Your Javanese meal might include dishes such as Dotty's addictively light and crispy corn fritters or another favorite, soya chicken, chicken cooked in soy sauce with traditional ingredients such as cinnamon, star anise, and rice wine. Share a delightful meal with Dotty over conversation about food and culture.

Dotty was born in Java and has lived in the US and Australia. She recently returned to her country of birth and has fulfilled a life-long dream of building a bed and breakfast. She is passionate about cooking traditional recipes handed down from her grandmother and sharing Javanese cuisine with travelers.
