About this experience

This is a great tour for those who have limited time in Canakkale and want to see the ancient city of Troy and Gallipoli ANZAC Battlefields in one day.

This tour will explore the Gallipoli and Troy region in one day with pick up from one of Canakkale's hotels. In Troy, you will spend the morning visiting the ancient city until it is time to visit ANZAC battlefields including ANZAC cove, Lone Pine Australian Memorial, Johnston's Jolly and Chunuk-Bair New Zealand Memorial. The tour returns to Canakkale in the afternoon.

What you'll see

At about 8:30am you will be picked up from the designated Canakkale hotel. Next, proceed to the ancient city of Troy in an air-conditioned coach.The guide will explain the mythology surrounding Troy, the Trojan Horse, and Helen of Troy. They will also explain the history and discoveries of the archaeological diggings from its discovery by Heinrich Schliemann in the 1870's to the present day and on going. Nine cities have been discovered built one on top of the other dating back to 3500 B.C.

You'll also see and hear about:

Sacrificial Altars.

The 3700 year old city walls.

Houses of Troy I, 3000 B.C. - 2500 B.C.

The battle between Achilles and Paris.

Current excavations in progress.

Remains of the various cities from Troy I through to Troy IX.

By 11:30am you will return to Canakkale then take the Kilitbahir Car Ferry across the Dardanelles. Before proceeding to the battlefields, lunch is provided at a restaurant. After lunch, the tour travels to the battlefield area and visits several areas including:
