New York City has more than one Little Italy and Italian-American cuisine is more than pizza, spaghetti and meatballs. Bring your appetite and go off-the-beaten-path to the ethnically diverse and historically Italian-American neighborhood of Bensonhurst - Brooklyn's Pasta Paradise! On this small group walking tour, we will visit some of Bensonhurst's favorite old school places to eat and shop. Your guide, a native Brooklynite, will share the neighborhood's history and his own unique perspectives as only a local can. You'll learn why Brooklyn continues to draw people from all over the world while we walk and taste.
We will visit local businesses that make or prepare Italian-American specialties including baked goods, cheeses, heroes and ravioli. We will be in the neighborhood of Bensonhurst between 75th and 84th Streets and 14th and 18th Avenues.
We'll meet outside Pastosa Ravioli's flagship store.
The tour MUST begin at 10:30am SHARP! Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early to be on time. Due to the nature of the tour, we can't wait and there's no catching up. On the day of the tour and ONLY before we start I may be reached by SMS at +1 (917) 747-1911.
We begin in front of Pastosa Ravioli at 1635 Bay Ridge Pkwy, Brooklyn, NY 11204. It's on Bay Ridge Parkway (same as 75th Street) and New Utrecht Avenue. The 71st Street station on the D line is the closest station. The next closest is the 18th Avenue station on the N or W line. The tour ends only a few blocks away.
Please note that Italian-American food is typically made with meat, including pork, and dairy products and contains gluten. Unfortunately, this tour can't accommodate all diets and isn't tailored for those with specific food allergies.
