Detailed itinerary

1

Start the tour after meeting with your private guide in the hotel lobby. Local guide will discuss the plan of the day and would try to understand your preferences. Drive 20 Kilometers (approx) to Srirangapatna from Mysore city. Although situated a few kms from Mysore city, Srirangapatna lies in the neighbouring district of Mandya. The entire town is enclosed by the river Kaveri to form a river island.

The Ranganthaswamy temple dedicated to the Hindu god Ranganatha (a manifestation of the god Vishnu) is one of the five important pilgrimage sites along the river Kaveri for devotees of Ranganatha. These five sacred sites are together known as Pancharanga Kshetrams in Southern India.

Stop 2

Icing on the cake for the day tour is visit to Devaraja market. This Bazaar is an apt place to get a flavour of the local people's daily life. With more than 100 years of history, this market is well knitted into the heritage of Mysore. This is a good sample of a traditional Indian market place that is colourful, noisy, vibrant and a tad chaotic.

Stop 3

Daria Daulat Bagh (literally 'Garden of the Wealth') is a palace situated in the city of Srirangapatna. The palace is built in the Indo-Sarcenic style in mostly made of teakwood. The palace has a rectangular plan and is built on a raised platform. The most stunning feature of the palace is that all the space available on the walls, pillars, canopies and arches have colourful frescoes in the style of Mysore paintings.

Tombs of Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali, is situated in Srirangapatnam; it looks very similar to the Golconda tombs with an elegant square chamber with a brick dome. The excellent workmanship is evident in the carved stone windows, ebony doorways artistically designed with inlaid ivory. There is an ancient mosque inside the complex.
