Stop 1

The day trip begins by a pick up from your hotel or desired pick up location in Mombasa at around 8 am drive through the City Center towards the historical old town (kibokoni) where you find the famous Fort jesus museum which was designed by italian Giovanni Battista and was built between 1593 and 1596 by the oder of king Philip of portugal to guard the old port of Mombasa.

There you can learn everything there is to be learnt about Mombasa and how it evolved. After that, a guide will continue to give you a guided tour passing through the Mombasa Club, Africa Hotel, Mandhry Mosque, Government Square, entering the Old Port and continuing towards Old spice Market. As the tour continues you will be walking through old colonial houses and

mosques Discovering the culture and origin of Mombasa.

Lunch in the old town – local cuisine with either sea food, pilau or biryani on the menu,available for you to have a taste of the swahili delicacy. .After that you can take a drive along mama ngina drive just to enjoy the scenic view of where the island ends and the ocean begins.

In just a few meters is the Likoni Ferry channel which connects the North to the South Coast. Lastly visit the again Famous Pembe za ndovu(Elephant Tusks) as the local swahili call them,they can also be found on the back of the 50 ksh note.They symbolised Mombasa as the gateway to ivory trade back in the Arab trade era.Your driver-guide will stop you there for a photo session.You also get a chance to do a little shoping in the streets of mombasa town.

Later head to Haller Park in the afternoon in time to feed the Giraffes.

: Haller Park (formerly Bamburi Nature Trail) is located South of the Bamburi cement plant along the Mombasa /Malindi highway. A product of the company's efforts, since 1971, to convert barren

landscape of disused limestone quarries into vibrant and diverse ecosystem of forest, grasslands and ponds.Currently, Haller Park plays host to a variety of wildlife including hippos, giraffes, buffalos, and antelopes as well as smaller mammals and birds.

The Park was the first recipient to be honoured with the United Nations Environmental Program Global 500 Roll of Honour award for the unique, ecologically sound and successful rehabilitation undertaken. The Park consists of a Game Sanctuary, Reptile Park, small demonstration Fish Farm area, Palm Garden, Crocodile pens and a giraffe viewing platform, offering a variety of attractions at the various points to educate and entertain the over 160,000 visitors who visit the park every year.The diversity of vegetation is considerable, from mangrove palms and majestic indigenous shade trees to coastal forests where several of these plants are rare and endangered; a

haven for botanist. Yet each plant plays an important role in the overall harmony of the ecosystem.

The park also provides a home to various animal species from the cheeky Vervet monkeys to the graceful giraffe; Weaver birds, Kingfisher, Storks, Herons, Egrets, Owls, Eagles, Kites, Cranes, Ibis, Sandpipers the list is endless, Haller Park a must visit for all bird lovers.

You can choose between haller park Or continue to Akamba Handicraft which is the local association of handicraft artisans that manages the production and sale of wooden carvings and other souvenirs in Mombasa. Walk in the workshop and watch how its all done, you will be amazed at what can come out from a simple piece of wood. After the tour of the workshops, you will have a chance to shop and buy some of the carvings and souvenirs that you might have liked in the workshops. They can also ship them abroad for you.

After you are satisfied with shopping it’s now time to take you back to your hotel or drop off point in time for dinner
