About this experience

Gliding silently along the New River, spotting tropical birds through the canopy. This Lamanai tour has become one of the most popular Mayan sites to visit. You will be able to walk through centuries-old plazas where history whispers between the ruins. Spotting exotic birds and wildlife that vanish if you blink—perfect for photos or awe-filled moments. At the site, you will be served lunch, which is a homemade Belizean meal. Bottled water and fruit juices will also be available. Your tour guide will then take you through this amazing ancient Mayan city of Lamanai. The highlight of this tour is visiting the mask temple, where you get to see the largest mask of an Olmec person in this region. You will also visit the high temple, which allows you to overlook the new river lagoon. Your tour of this ancient city culminates at the Jaquar temple. Detailed itinerary

After being picked up by your driver you will be driven for about an hour north of Belize City. Along the way, your guide will provide information about Belize's history and culture. You will enjoy the beautiful landscape of this part of the country including a look at the Belize River and small villages along the way. Your stop will be at the landing site just outside the major town of Orange Walk at the toll bridge. Here you get a chance to use the restroom after which you will board a very comfortable motor boat with a canopy and meet the captain who will also guide your river and Lamania tour. Your new river tour then begins. As you traverse this amazing river you may see tropical water birds, crocodiles, howler monkeys, and manatees. You stop at the Mayan site of Lamanai. After lunch is served you will be given a guided tour of Lamanai and then you will be making your way back to the landing area by boat to get your bus that will bring you back to Belize City

A main part of this amazing tour is the boat ride to the Lamania Mayan site. Along the way, you will get to see a wide variety of tropical birds, crocodiles, green iguanas, manatees, howler monkeys, and a Mennonite community as well. You get to learn a lot about the flora and fauna of northern Belize with a very knowledgeable tour guide.
