On the way to the kingdom of glaciers we pass by the deepest lake in Europe - Hornindalsvatnet. Enjoy the majestic water mirror, which reflects mountains, clouds, forests and charming farms with shaggy sheep.
This lake is very large, with an area of 50.5 square kilometers and a depth of 514 meters.
The lake contains only a few species of fish (such as trout, char and eel), but the rivers are much more productive. Hornindalsvatnet's source, the Eidselva River, is a famous salmon and trout fishery in Nordfjordeid. Fishing permits can be purchased from local hotels along with maps showing where fishing is permitted.
Look closely at the lake as your guide talks about the amazing legends and the Horney monster that lives in this lake.
