At a time in the Cayman Islands when most people lived in tiny, thatch-covered houses, a wealthy Englishman, using slave labour from Jamaica, created an astonishing 3-storey building called Pedro St. James.
In the 1990s, the Government of the Cayman Islands purchased Pedro St. James and painstakingly restored the Great House to the splendor of its 18th century heritage.
Today, visitors can stroll through the imposing edifice with its period furniture and authentic artifacts to experience what life was like so long ago in Cayman’s history.
It is very important that you are in line early for the tenders if you want to make it to your tour. Once you are ashore and have cleared security at the port, you should continue walking straight, & you will see a tent with a white Canopy, hanging above a sign with the word “CAYTOURS”.
Meeting Instructions
The tour departs from the dispatch booth at the Royal Terminal. Please, be advised that guests on ships that anchor in Grand Cayman must take a small boat called a tender to shore. It is very important that you are in line early for the tenders if you want to make it to your tour before it departs. It can take approximately 60 minutes to wait for tenders and get to shore. Once you are ashore and have cleared security at the port, head to the 'Taxi Dispatch Booth' at the Royal Terminal. If you are arriving at the North Terminal, you will need to walk to the Royal Terminal. It is a short, 5-minute walk. Our representative will meet you there and will be holding a CAYTOURS sign for easy identification.
