About this experience

The tour starts with pickup from your accommodation in either Funchal or Caniço. After pickup, head toward’s one of Madeira’s most famous icons, the King Christ statue, the first statue of its kind in the world. Next, visit Camacha, a parish with the nickname “The Land of the Wicker”, and marvel at the fascinating furniture and baskets made from wicker using traditional techniques.

Continue on to Pico do Areeiro next to admire the breathtaking views of the Madeira mountains. Take some time to appreciate this stunning landscape and snap some photos for your holiday album. Next, head down to Ribeiro Frio and watch the fishermen farming for trout, or opt to take a walking tour in the island’s famous Levadas.

Next, travel to some of Eastern Madeira’s most precious viewpoints, São Roque do Faial and Portela, and then visit Machico city the first place discovered by the Portuguese, and we finish in the most eastern point of Madeira, the Sao Lourenço Peninsula.

The statue was built in 1927 and consecrated on October 30, 1927. Financed by the local lawyer Aires de Ornelas and his wife, created by French artists Georges Serraz and Pierre Charles Lenoir. The statue was completed 4 years before Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil.
