Start your day with a pickup from Brașov and head to Râșnov, home to its 14th-century fortress, once a safe haven for villagers during invasions through Bran Pass.
The citadel, currently under renovation, can be admired from the outside and its garden. Continue to Fortress Valley Cave, Romania’s youngest show cave, discovered after a flood reopened its entrance. With fiberglass walkways and halls like the 30-meter-high Great Hall, the cave impresses both with its beauty and conservation design. Its “Cathedral” chamber even hosted a Philharmonic concert thanks to its acoustics. End the day at a local distillery in Râșnov, where you’ll learn the art of pálinka making and taste a variety of strong fruit spirits.

We will visit the famous Rasnov citadel, that dates from the 14th century and learn about its amazing history. Afterwards, we will continue our journey to Fortress Valley Cave, a very modern cave made of a special sort of fiberglass, which is strong, light, and does not emit any substances. We will also serve a traditional Romanian lunch followed by some Palinca tasting at a famous distillery!
Appreciative of the citadel’s location, you will be able to climb up to the fortress’s highest point and be rewarded with breathtaking views of rolling hills .The fortress was built as part of a defense system for the Transylvanian villages exposed to outside invasions. The fortress’s location is on the route of the invading armies, which were coming via the Bran pass, through Rasnov, then onward to Brasov. Taking refuge in the citadel was a great place for the locals to survive any invasion, and this resulted in many people staying in the fortification for decades.
As the owner would say: "At Palincaria Transilvania we produce in the traditional way, on a wood fire, only fruit distillates.
We mainly use fruits from the area - apples, pears, plums - but we do not limit ourselves to these. Because we chose diversity, we use everything that Transylvania can offer us: the best grapes, the tastiest apricots, quinces, cherries, cherries or berries."
Coming down on Nicolae Balcescu street you will spot a big sign "Mondly" on the street corner. If you continue down on Nicolae Balcescu street (to Star shopping center), you will see a gate with bear watching sign on it on the right side, enter through that door and take the first left.
