In the village of Kalnciems, by the river and peat bogs, there is a Soviet-era building built in 1980. This building has slum status. The building has not been used for decades.
Since 2019, cleaning and renovation work has been carried out, in which private family funds are invested. Step by step, the building is being renovated to create a peat art museum. The peat house will also have a peat workshop and a research center. Only handmade is mostly used to prepare peat.
The aim of the Peat Museum is to summarize and publish the course of traditions, which have been started since 2008.

The Peat House will also have a peat workshop. Works of art peat products will be created. 90% handmade is used to prepare peat. The aim of the Peat Museum is to summarize and make public the course of these traditions.
As artist Edgars Ameriks found the peat as material wich we can choose like new innovative material for design and art. With long experience and research in peat processing it can be use with individual techniques to create peat artworks. Each artwork is an artefact about opportunities for our future.
