Most visitors to Cancún never experience the city beyond the beach. This evening tour pulls you away from the Hotel Zone and into downtown Cancún, where local markets and late-night street vendors reveal the city’s real food culture.
Think of this as an edible crash course in Cancún’s flavours. Over four hours and 15+ tastings, you’ll eat your way through the dishes locals eat after dark, discovering why the city is far more than white sand and resorts. This isn't about fine dining. If you want to see, and taste, the real Cancún, this takes you right to beloved local dishes and the vendors that sell them.
Our Cancun food tour offers guests a culinary experience around the city's medina. It's a carefully curated food adventure, led by our team of Cancun tastemakers.
Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine, and the limitations of street food vendors and local eateries mean we cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour, so no-one is disappointed:
✘ Unsuitable for vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, no pork diet and lactose intolerance as the number of tastings would be very limited.
✔ Gluten intolerance, mild nut allergies and no seafood diets are possible, though some tastings do not have alternatives available

This four-hour evening food tour explores Cancún beyond the Hotel Zone, where locals head after dark to eat. The experience visits neighbourhood markets, taco carts, and family-run eateries, offering 15+ tastings that showcase the city’s most authentic flavours away from the resorts.
Along the way, you’ll sample a wide range of Mexican favourites, including crusty tortas filled with slow-roasted lechón pork, comforting bowls of Guerrero-style pozole with hominy, and charcoal-grilled beef tacos fresh from the fire. The tastings continue with refreshing chilli-spiked nieves, classic Mexican flan, and local mezcal ice cream finished with a spirited drizzle, among many more.
Although Cancún is a relatively young city, its food culture reflects traditions brought by migrants from across Mexico. This guided evening tour offers a generous and authentic introduction to the dishes locals know best, rarely found in resort restaurants.
The tour concludes after 3.5-4 hours. You'll leave not only full, but with a much deeper understanding of Mexican food culture and the confidence to continue eating your way through the country.
The meeting point is outside the front of the Teatro 8 de Octubre in Cancun's Downtown. It's best reached via taxi if travelling from the Hotel Zone.
