If selected on tour, it makes a good pair with Via Caracciolo and the seafront. Enjoy the views of the bay and the city from the seaside Castel dell'Ovo, the oldest standing fortification in Naples. Its name comes from a legend: a sorcerer placed a magical egg in the foundation of the castle. We shall take a feel for its bustling life and if you wish we can stop at one of several pastry or pizza places for a quick break.
San Gregorio is the pulsing core of the Nativity Making district in Old Naples. We will observe the unique creations of these craftsmen, your guide will introduce you to this old and important minor art. If you wish there will be some free time to explore on your own this area.
The Cathedral of Naples is a 14th-century French Gothic church which is the seat of the Naples Archidiocese. The Cathedral is also home to the Crypt and the Chapel of Naples Patron Saint, San Gennaro. Here takes place the Festival of San Gennaro, famous for the "blood liquefaction" ceremony that takes place three times a year!
