Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

Discover the 200-year history and local secrets of the Viktualienmarkt. We'll move beyond the main paths for exclusive tastings of local delicacies from choice vendors. After the guided portion, you’ll have some free time to explore, shop, and soak up the market’s vibrant atmosphere.

2
Stop 2

Dallmayr Delikatessen: A Munich institution since 1700, this is Germany’s most famous and historic gourmet food hall. We’ll admire the legendary array of luxury goods—from rare cheeses and caviar to their world-famous coffee—and discuss its history as a supplier to the Bavarian royal court. We will also try their world famous Apfelstrudel with Vanilla Sauce...... an absolute must in Munich. Should this not be open on Sunday's we will go to the Rischart Bakery and Cafe, the second best place for Apfelstrudel or donuts.

3
Stop 3

Zum Franziskaner: This Munich institution, located directly across from the Residenz, is one of the city's oldest and most respected traditional inns. While famous for its beer hall and sit-down Bavarian cuisine, we head straight to their exclusive counter for the true local classic: the Leberkassemmel (warm meatloaf served in a fresh roll). Their version is often cited as the absolute best in Munich—a hearty, perfectly seasoned snack that is the ultimate taste of Bavarian comfort food. Alternatively we head to the Viktualianmarkt for their version.

4

Max-Joseph-Platz: We gather in the imposing square named after Bavaria's first king, Max Joseph I. This location perfectly sets the stage for our combo tour, surrounded by three centuries of architectural history: the Munich Residenz (the former royal palace), the National Theatre (home of the Bavarian State Opera), and the stunning Post Office building. This is where royal power, high culture, and dramatic political history have converged for over 200 years, providing the ideal entry point to unlock the tales of Munich's mighty Wittelsbach dynasty. We also let you in on the secrets of the traditional wear - Lederhosen and Dirndl's - how to wear them and what to wear them with...

5
Stop 5

Here we just see the outside and let you know the best time to visit.

6
Stop 6

Nürnberger Bratwurst Glöckl am Dom: Tucked right beside the Frauenkirche (Cathedral), this historic tavern specializes in one thing: authentic Nuremberg Rostbratwürste (small grilled sausages). We'll step inside this traditional, cozy spot to appreciate its rustic ambiance and sample these perfect, charcoal-grilled delicacies, which are still cooked over an open beechwood fire, offering a truly regional taste experience. Should this be full we will visit one of the other three equally good restaurants right next door to this venue.

7
Stop 7

A quick stop at the Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Lady): With its iconic twin onion-domed towers dominating the Munich skyline, this cathedral is the city's most recognizable landmark. Built in the late Gothic style, it is famous for its massive interior space, its historical significance as the Archbishop's seat, and the legendary "Devil's Footprint" located near the entrance.
