About this experience

At Big Island Buggy you choose the destination! You tour the island in your very own open aired VW Manx style buggy. We offer 2 or 4 seat manual and automatic transmission buggies. See historical sites, drive to beautiful beaches, tour the coffee farms, YOU decide where and how long you would like to stay. We rent our buggies for 4 hours or 8 hours. Call for multiple day rentals. Our buggies come with a soft top that you can remove with ease and give yourself an AMAZING VIEW! The buggies can be driven anywhere a rental car can go on the island. They go highway speeds. The only restriction is no off road (except dirt parking lots) and they are not 4 wheel drive. Please call us prior to booking for questions. What you'll see

We offer (1) two seat and and (4) four seat VW buggies. For your convenience, beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella and soft cooler provided by request at no additional charge. We provide maps and go over places to see. We have also equipped them with a USB port to charge your phones. Yellow "Tang", Blue "Mako" and Red "Tiki" are STANDARD/STICK-SHIFT TRANSMISSIONS transmissions. Green "Honu" is the only fully automatic transmission.
What is required in order to rent a buggy?
1. Be 21 years of age or older with a valid driver's license.
2. Full coverage personal auto insurance required or you can purchase from RENTALCOVER.COM BOTH Supplemental Liability and Collision Damage Waiver i
3. Be present at the time of the rental to complete contract.
4. All drivers must be registered on the rental contract.
5. One registered driver will also need to Authorize Use of a credit card for purchase of optional insurance policy deductible, if accident occurs and /or any other incidentals.
Can the Buggy be taken off road?
No, our buggies are only allowed on paved roadways and parking lots. Our buggies are equipped with GPS tracking devices, so we will be notified as soon as the buggy enters onto a dirt or lava road. There is a $500.00 charge for attempting "off road" excursions.
How Many People Can Fit in a Buggy?
We offer 2 and 4 seater options for your convenience.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
1. Cancellation within 24 hours of your reservation are non-refundable.
2. Due to inclement weather, we would make a decision for the refund the day of the rental. Please keep in mind that showers and storms will blow in and blow out quickly.

15-20minute walk form Kailua-Kona pier. Walk towards the Kona Brewing stainless steel kettle. Go up stairs and past Puna Chocolate Co. At street go left. We are at Kona Town Storage on left. (GOOGLE MAPS WILL TAKE YOU THE LONGER WALK AROUND THE BLOCK. USE STAIRS BY STAINLESS STEEL KETTLE.)
