Experience the city of Rovaniemi and the river banks of Kemijoki and Ounasjoki rivers. This is easy riding tour and suitable for anybody who can ride a bike; only flat roads and easy forest paths. We take you through the city center to some of the most beautiful river banks. We also ride on the frozen river ice when it’s possible and safe.
Our professional biking guide can show you not only the wonder of winter, but some sweet singletracks a stone's throw away from the city centre.
This tour happens with electric assisted fatbikes. You need to pedal, but the electric motor makes it easy and fun for riders in any fit.
On this tour you will also see the beautiful riverside and even some of the architectural pearls of Rovaniemi. We ride by old Marttiini knife factory and Arktikum, over the Lumberjack Bridge and at the end of the tour we will pass by the library designed by Alvar Aalto himself.
We start the ride from Roll Outdoors Garage in the middle of the city of Rovaniemi
First we ride through Rovaniemi downtown and pass the old Marttiini Factory, on the rare buildings that survived world war II in Rovaniemi
After Marttiini we ride through the premises of Arktikum museum straight to the river Ounasjoki
Experience the paths alongside the beautiful river Ounasjoki.
River Ounasjoki meets Kemijoki, the longest river in Finland. And we follow the cycling paths alongside the banks of the river.
Shrotly we arrive back to city center and cross the famous Lumberjack's Candle Bridge. We ride shortly on the other side of the river and come back using the Old Railroad Bridge.
We ride through the building complex designed by world famous architect Alvar Aalto.
Back to the garage. What a ride it was! Next tour you can take to the trails of Ounasvaara hill!
After the river banks our route continues alongside the Church of Rovaniemi.
We meet up at Hostel Cafe Koti 15 mins before the tour start. Feel free to come a bit earlier and buy a cup of coffee before the ride
Tour starts from and ends to our garage at city center. Street address: Valtakatu 21, Rovaniemi. Meeting point at Hostel Cafe Koti reception 10 minutes before tour starting time.
It might be a bit cold and it’s good to wear thermal underwear and windproof jacket and pants. Also double socks are a good choice.
Note: Long scarfs and jackets are not optimal for riding bikes and they may stuck in to the spinning wheels.
