Detailed itinerary

1

This full-day private service to Pompeii consists of your own English-speaking driver and a private, licensed tour guide of the ruins if you wish. We'll fetch your right from your centrally-located Rome hotel in an air-conditioned sedan or minivan and head south to Italy’s Campania region.

2
Stop 2 Pass by

Heading south from Rome, we'll drive past the Castelli Romani -- which translates as "Roman Castles" -- in the Roman Countryside near beautiful Lake Albano. The Castelli Romani aren't castles in the sense of gigantic Medieval fortified dwellings but rather a group of villages located around the lake at the feet of the Alban Hills, in the territory corresponding to Old Latium, steeped in ancient history.

3
Stop 3 Pass by

The Abbey of Montecassino is a historic monastery best known for the Battle of Montecassino during World War II, which resulted in huge Allied and German casualties as well as the near-total destruction of the town itself. The massive complex has been rebuilt and cuts a fine figure as you drive by.

4
Stop 4 Pass by

The Bay of Naples is a handsome gulf that stretches for about 15 kilometers from Naples to Sorrento, dominated to the east by the imposing figure of Mount Vesuvius,

5
Stop 5 Pass by

Mount Vesuvius, one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world, sits in the middle of a densely populated area and looms over the landscape with its unmistakable profile.

6
Stop 6

Pompeii is a place where time has stood still since 79 AD, when the cataclysmic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius rained tons of ash and lava down on the Roman city. The monumental disaster perfectly preserved the city, giving us a unique look at Ancient Roman life.
