The name means "Bell Point" in English and is where the Bay of Naples and Gulf of Salerno meet. In the Middle Ages, a tower with a bell was built at the site as a coastal defense against pirate invasions. The bell was rung as a warning to nearby towns whenever danger approached. It is also currently a nature preserve.
