Detailed itinerary

1

Huluganga Ella Falls (75m in height) is one of many cascades created by the stream originating from the Knuckles mountain range. The cascading water sprinkles the villages of Elliyadda and Aratthana, before flowing to the Victoria Reservoir. It is popular with both local and foreign visitors and villagers regard it as part of their Dumbara heritage.

2

Saree Ella is one of the numerous waterfalls in the valley of the river Huluganga, which marks the western edge of Knuckles Range, separating the latter from the Campbell's Lane Forest Reserve. The name "Saree" indeed refers to the traditional type of garment worn by the women in South Asia, as the form of the waterfall is wide at the bottom and has one single stripe further up.

3

Kosgama Ella Falls is a generally unknown waterfall on the Panvila-Bambarella road. This route is well known for the 75-meter Huluganga Ella Fall which lies in the Hulunganga Town. Passing Huluganga Falls, and travelling a further 450 meters towards the Bambarella, you will reach the Kosgama Bridge, an ancient steel bridge across a stream. The waterfall lies beneath this bridge and continues further down. Unfortunately, part of the water on the stream is diverted using a canal towards a mini hydro project leaving the water available to the fall.

4

It is in the central highlands where there’s an endless amount of luscious tea plantations found everywhere – as well as the famous Knuckles Mountain Range which is 10 km away from the estate. It is a three star estate that welcomes families and friends to enjoy a getaway from the hustle and bustle of urban life in the city. The entire estate has a very homely and inviting feel which makes your stay more enjoyable than it already is.

5

The village of Gomara in Sri Lanka's Kandy District is situated in a lush green valley at the upper reaches of the Huluganga, which is the most significant river of Knuckles Range. More precisely, the location is in the valley the eastern headstream of Huluganga, whereas the the longer western headstream runs along the villages of Kalabokka and Madulkelle. Gomara is the far point of the roads leading from Kandy town to the northeast directly to Knuckles Range. Located at the western foot of the main range, Gomara is the most important starting point for Knuckles hiking and trekking close to Kandy, whereas Meemure and Riverston, the most popular starting points, are to the east resp.

6

Kanna's Place Rest and Camping is a Restaurant located in Gomara. It is one of the 14480 restaurants in Sri Lanka.

7

The Knuckles Mountain Range, also known as Dumbara Kanduvatiya, derives its name from its resemblance to clenched fists when viewed from various angles, a moniker bestowed by British surveyors. This UNESCO World Heritage Site spans 155 square kilometers in the Matale and Kandy districts of central Sri Lanka, captivating nature and adventure enthusiasts with its unpredictable climate, dense fog, and diverse trails leading to peaks like Kirigalpoththa and Gombaniya, offering breathtaking vistas, cascading waterfalls, and rich biodiversity.
