The Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya are Sri Lanka's oldest formal gardens. It's about 5 kilometers west of Kandy, in Sri Lanka's Central Province, at 460 meters above sea level. The relic was preserved in Kandy in a structure built by Vimmaladarmasurya, the capital's founder. It was then moved to a new and rebuilt structure by his successors.
